Mighty Mint Julep

Kentucky Derby time is here again and on Saturday, May 7th the race will begin. No true race fan would be caught dead without a cold Mint Julep in their hand when that happens. The traditional Mint Julep is simply fresh mint, sugar, water and of course good Kentucky Bourbon. We have made it even simpler (and no sore wrists from muddling mint) by using Sonoma Syrup Co's Mint Infused Simple Syrup which provides fresh mint flavors with a sweet silky taste. When this is shaken over ice with good Bourbon, it is like being right in the front seats at the derby its self.

Cocktail Recipe:
"Mighty Mint Julep"
3 oz. Redemption High Rye Bourbon (good Kentucky Bourbon that won't break the bank)
1 oz. Sonoma Syrup Co Mint Infused Simple Syrup
Fresh Mint (for garnish)
Crushed Ice

Add all the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain into an ice cold glass or a traditional stainless steel mint julep cup. Garnish with fresh mint if desired.

Food Pairings: Enjoy this Kentucky cocktail with our Santa Fe Barbecue Brown Rice Chips dipped in our Jersey General Mango Salsa and one of our Fresh Made Chocolate Chips Cookies for dessert!
